Was a late-80s early-90s Cleveland radio legend when WCSB DJ Steve Wainstead would play the Flipper song “Brainwash” (with all its like, and then uh, I dunno, seven or eight words of lyrics) and take live calls on the air; the caller would speak, rant or otherwise make noise, sometimes with random confusion until finally cut off, the song went back on — and this would continue hypnotically for minutes and minutes every night, addictive to both listen to and take part in. [history]

Some people out there made airchecks of this stuff and now you can get it on the nets. Get an MP3 (circa 1988) from Wainstead’s (hopefully growing) online archive of shows.

The first WCSB broadcast from the Cole Center Thurs. 10/16/08 was Brainwash
